Marvão

Marvão Portugal – 2025. Marvão is a municipality in Alentejo region of Portugal, near the Spanish border. The fortified rock of Marvão has been a site of significant strategic importance since the earliest human settlements. The medieval 13th century castle in Marvão today has the general characteristics of a crusader-era castle including a tall central keep with a raised entrance and a series of lower, outlying turrets with high-placed arrow-slits. Its walls enclose a charming medieval village with whitewashed houses.
