Wachau Valley, Austria - 2022 Danube River cruise. The Wachau Valley is a 36 kilometer (22 mi) stretch of the Danube Valley west of Vienna. The river banks are lined with vineyards, orchards and picturesque small towns. It is listed in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites in recognition of its architectural and agricultural history. We stopped at the town of Dürnstein and visited a saffron grower and Café-Konditorei Braun in Marbach an der Donau where we learned how they make their pastries.
