Namibia - Land Rover Adventure

In April 2002 we went on a Land Rover Adventure off-road Driving Expedition in Namibia and the accompanying photos are a small bit of what we saw and did.

Participation in this trip was truly global, as each couple came from a different country, including Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Martinique, Scotland and USA. All were Land Rover owners or employees of Land Rover dealers.

Many thanks to Land Rover and especially our hosts throughout the journey, Rob & Carina Timcke and Julie MacKenzie.

I have broken up the trip into three albums to accommodate the number of picture and comments.

Includes Etosha National Game Reserve and the drive to Hobatere Lodge which is east of Etosha then south to Damaraland Camp. Most of the driving was in dry river beds or in the desert.

Includes a very difficult trip along the Ugab River then south along the Skeleton Coast to Walvis Bay, Sandwich Bay and the desert that surrounds them.

We spent a day driving from the coast to Okapuka Ranch which is about 30km north of Windhoek. We did a couple of game viewing tours through different parts of the Ranch and saw lots of animals.

Below is a map of Namibia. The red line is a general indication of the route we took and the numbers indicate the locations of the places we stayed at.
