Thumbnails - Bhaktapur and Nagarkot, Nepal 2010

As part of our stay in Kathmandu at the end of our Nepal trip we visited Bhaktapur and Nagarkot, staying overnight at Nagarkot.
Bhaktapur, which is about 13km east of Kathmandu, is one of many world heritage sites in Nepal. It is a 17th Century artisans village and there are lots of artists there still selling pottery, wood carvings, paintings and all sorts of souvenirs. It also has a lot of temples, palaces and other old buildings.
Nagarkot is a short drive from Bhaktapur and is a small village (mostly hotels and guesthouse) on a ridge with a good view of the Himalayas if the weather is cooperative. We stayed at the Niva Niwa Lodge (http://www.nivaniwa.com/) which had just reopened for the season and was therefore a bit disorganized. The best part of going to Nagarkot was the walk down the hill to get out – because of the scenery and people we met along the way.
