Habitat for Humanity Global Village - Guatemala - 2016
We had the opportunity to visit a small ceramics business in Rabinal and the owner showed us the products that he makes which end up for sale in local and tourist markets throughout Guatemala. It is a family business and they prepare the clay, use foot powered wheels to shape a number of different products that are then dried, finished and fired. Everything then goes to another family business where it is painted, glazed and refired before it goes to a wholesaler for distribution to the markets throughout Guatemala.
The owner was a true artist and demonstrated his skill by turning out numerous works of art from his potter’s wheel.
